Arromanches – Normandy Landings 1944 – 2009

JUNE 5th – 11th 2009

The most spectacular and emblematic vestiges of the Normandy Landings, the remains of the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches, will be floodlit each evening during this period. On the first evening this will be complemented by the Fireworks Displays stretching along the coast (mentioned in an earlier post https://visitnormandy.wordpress.com/tag/fireworks/).

Here is the full programme of events at Arromanches over this period:

JUNE 5th
>>> Inauguration of a stèle in memory of the soldiers of the Royal Engineers
>>> Jazz concert
>>> Pipe Band concert
>>> Lighting up of the Mulberry harbour

JUNE 6th
>>> 11 am: Open air mass
>>> 11.50 am: Inauguration of the Beckett Space
>>> Midday: Ceremony of remembrance attended by British veterans
>>> 3 pm: Entertainment and concert – Place du 6 juin and pedestrianised area
>>> 4 pm onwards: Presentation of official Commemorative Medals on behalf of France to veterans attending with the Normandy Veterans Association (NVA) followed by Parade
>>> 7 pm: Pipe Band concert
>>> 10 pm to 11.30 pm: Jazz concert by the Big Band sur Mers

JUNE 7th
>>> 3 pm: Jazz concert
>>> 4 pm: Grand parade of collectors’ military vehicles
