A Secret (?) Garden of Normandy and Pays de la Loire

After putting together videos for some of our favourite gardens to visit in Normandy and Pays de la Loire, my much beloved said to me “How come you haven’t done one for our garden”.  So I thought, “Why not?” and nipped out with my camera at the weekend to take some pics.

Combined with a half dozen seasonal shots from computer files, this is the result.  I hope you like it!

In case you’re wondering, here’s what the garden looked like shortly after we moved in – most of the garden has been done in the last 3 years.

Having taken this step and revealed part of our garden, I’m also planning to start a new page on the blog, or possibly a category of posts, which will be on the theme “Normandy Gardening Tips and Troubles”.  In it I hope to relay some of our successes and to record our failures, to help others moving to this part of the world who may not be familiar with the climate and challenges.  I’ll welcome comments and tips from other gardeners, novices and experts alike.

Stay tuned!

  1. Gosh, you did so much work! And it’s all paid off too. You should be super proud of yourself. As a sideline you ought to be designing gardens for others.

It’s satisfying to look back on how it was and how it is though and I’m sure it gives you a thrill.
